PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP)
PRP is a process in which whole blood is extracted from the patient. Whole blood consists of plasma, platelets, white blood cells and red blood cells. This is then concentrated by using a centrifuge device that separates all the different components of the blood. A portion of the plasma is called platelet rich plasma. This is the portion that we utilize to inject into any part of the body whether it be a joint like the knee, hip. Skin for rejuvenation, scalp to reverse hair loss. This concentrated substance stimulates the growth of the tissue that it encounters. Restoring the tissue that has been either damaged or deteriorated.
Often, we combine PRP with ozone. Ozone is a 3-molecule structure made up of oxygen. This high level of oxygen stimulates and potentiates the PRP. This is called MAH. The benefit of using PRP is that it comes from the patient’s own body. Therefore, a reaction highly unlikely. This is termed an autologous injection. Meaning that it comes from the person that is receiving it back.
